Thousands of people are
    dead or missing and animals in the path of the tsunami likely perished. In this
    rural area most dogs and cats would have been chained, unable to escape. Everyone of us are very
    concerned about pets left in homes near the nuclear power plant in Fukushima. It is unclear how many could accompany their guardians at evacuation centres. 

These groups are coalition created to positively support rescue efforts for the animals who have been affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Japan March 11, 2011 and its aftermath.
